This historic 90% silver half dollar commemorated the 300th anniversary of the founding of York County, Maine - the state's first county. Designed by Walter H. Reich, both sides of the coin feature large, stylish lettering. The obverse depicts the Brown's Garrison stockade, which became a town in 1636. United States of America and Half Dollar encircle the design in large, stylish letters. The reverse bears an adaptation of the York County seal.
