This 90% silver half dollar commemorated the 100th anniversary of Fort Vancouver, Washington. Less than 15,000 were distributed - all by the historic San Francisco Mint. The obverse bears a portrait of the fort's founder, Dr. John McLoughlin. The reverse depicts a pioneer settler in a buckskin suit and holding a musket. The fort and a mountain appear in the background.
