Description

A genuine 38-2 BC Phraates IV, Parthian Kingdom Silver Drachm Coin, Eagle with Wreath obverse, Arsaces I Holding Bow reverse, graded and certified MS* by NGC. Silver composition. After being named the successor to the Parthian throne, Phraates IV murdered his father and thirty of his brothers. Only a year after becoming king, Phraates IV's empire came under attack by Marc Antony, a Roman general determined to conquer the Parthians. He was unable to maintain his invasion after he went to war with Octavian. Despised by his own family and subjects, Phraates IV was murdered by his favorite wife and her son, whom he had appointed as his successor.
