Struck as a commemorative issue under Constantine the Great, this coin honors the dedication of Constantinople as the new capital city in A.D. 330, which coincided with Constantine's silver jubilee (25th year of reign). A helmeted bust personifying the new city Constantinopolis is on the obverse. A figure of winged Victory standing on the prow of a ship is on the reverse.
