A genuine 1966 SMS Jefferson Nickel Coin, graded and certified MS 67 by NGC. Copper-Nickel composition. From the U.S. Mint Special Mint Set. During 1965-1968 the U.S. Mint did not produce Proof Sets, instead producing Special Mint Sets or Special Strike coins that were struck in specially prepared planchets. The coins looked much better than circulation strike coins but not as sharp as proof struck coins.
