Description

A genuine 1965 SMS Jefferson Nickel Coin, graded and certified MS 65 CAM by PCGS. Copper-Nickel composition. From the U.S. Mint Special Mint Set. During 1965-1968 the U.S. Mint did not produce Proof Sets, instead producing Special Mint Sets or Special Strike coins that were struck in specially prepared planchets. The coins looked much better than circulation strike coins but not as sharp as proof struck coins.

The Jefferson nickel offers collectors an affordable way to build a complete collection. The obverse bears a striking portrait of America's founding father and 3rd president, while the reverse depicts his home, Monticello.
