Beginning in 2010, Congress authorized a new 56‑coin program called the National Park Quarters series. Each coin features a unique reverse honoring a national park or historic site. The program includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. These territories are Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The U.S. Mint released five new designs each year from 2010 through 2021. All coins continued using John Flanagan’s modified Washington portrait on the obverse. Learn More
