Lincoln Shield Cent (2010-Date)

Following the special 2009 Bicentennial cent program, the U.S. Mint redesigned the reverse of the Lincoln cent. The new reverse – designed by Lyndall Bass – depicts a “Union Shield” to represent President Lincoln’s preservation of the United States as a single, unified nation. The obverse continued Victor D. Brenner’s original Lincoln portrait design.
