After the death of the great king Mithradates II, rebellion followed. Although little is known of this period because of civil unrest, through numismatics and other artifacts we know that two rivals emerged, Orodes I in the East and Gotarzes in the West (Babylonia). Orodes drove Gotarzes from Babylonia and reunited the Parthian kingdom.
