Description
A genuine 1965 SMS Washington Clad Quarter Coin, in Uncirculated Mint State Condition. From the U.S. Mint Special Mint Set. During 1965-1968 the U.S. Mint did not produce Proof Sets, instead producing Special Mint Sets or Special Strike coins that were struck in specially prepared planchets. The coins looked much better than circulation strike coins but not as sharp as proof struck coins.
The obverse of this Washington quarter bears John Flanagan's familiar portrait of America's first president. Its reverse features his depiction of a proud eagle with spread wings, perched on a bundle of arrows above two olive branches.
