Bahram V was king of the Sasanian Empire for 18 years. He was celebrated in literature, art and folklore, for his chivalry, romantic adventures and huntsmanship. Bahram had a relatively peaceful rule. He engaged in a short lived and inconclusive war with the Romans. In 427, he crushed an eastern invasion allowing him to extend his influence into central Asia.
