Yazdgard I is described by some historians as the most famous rulers of the Sasanian Dynasty. Even though Rome was still recovering from invasions by the Ostrogoths and Franks, Yazdgard did not take advantage of their weakness and remained Rome's most peaceful border. Theodosius II was on the Sasanian Court under the guardianship of Yazdgard. Together they ensured freedom of Christians to worship.
