Struck to commemorate the 1988 Seoul Olympiad, this historic silver dollar bears an obverse designed by Patricia L. Verani. It features a hand holding the Olympic torch, which is being lit by the torch held by the Statue of Liberty. The reverse by Sheryl J. Winter depicts two olive branches and the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding the denomination 1 DOLLAR, USA, the Olympic rings and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
