Description

A genuine 198-217 AD Caracalla, Roman Empire, Sestertius Ancient Roman Imperial Coin, in VG/F Very Good / Fine Condition. Bronze composition

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was nicknamed Caracalla because of his fondness for a cloak of the same name. He and his brother Geta assumed joint rule after the death of their father, Emperor Septimius Severus. A year later, Caracalla gained full power by having Geta and many prominent Romans put to death. He was eventually murdered himself.
