Description
A genuine 1965 SMS Kennedy Silver Clad Half Dollar Coin, in Uncirculated Mint State Condition. Contains 40% Silver. From the U.S. Mint Special Mint Set. During 1965-1968 the U.S. Mint did not produce Proof Sets, instead producing Special Mint Sets or Special Strike coins that were struck in specially prepared planchets. The coins looked much better than circulation strike coins but not as sharp as proof struck coins.
This Kennedy half dollar honors America's 35th president, John F. Kennedy. The obverse designed by Gilroy Roberts features a left-facing portrait of Kennedy, while Frank Gasparro's reverse displays the presidential coat of arms.
