This six pence coin from the United Kingdom features a young laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, and a floral design of a Tudor rose, thistle, shamrock and leek on the reverse representing the four Home Nations, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. In Britain, there is a well-known tradition of the bride wearing "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe". A silver sixpence in the bride's shoe is a traditional wedding gesture for good luck.
