Description
A genuine 193-211 AD Septimius Severus, Roman Empire, Silver Denarius Ancient Roman Imperial Coin, Africa reverse, in VF Very Fine Condition. Silver composition
After the death of Commodus, Rome had two emperors and three generals who were strong and popular enough to also proclaim themselves emperors. One general, Septimius Severus became emperor after defeating both of his rivals, Pescennius Niger and Clodius Albinus. He adopted a military style government, and paid little attention to the Senate. During his rule he fought in almost every part of the Roman Empire - from England to Syria.
