This gold Liberty Head half eagle - also called a Coronet Head or Braided Hair half eagle - bears Christian Gobrecht's classic designs. The obverse depicts 13 stars around Liberty, who wears a diadem and her long hair in a bun held by a string of beads. On the reverse, an American eagle with Union Shield holds an olive branch and three arrows. Above the eagle is a banner with IN GOD WE TRUST, while UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and FIVE D. encircle the reverse.
